Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream

I know it may not be the most classy way to picture vanilla ice cream.
But I'm a sucker for pretty colours on melting ice cream.

Would you look at that colour trails? Doesn't it just make you want to go ice cream colour crazy?

And then i had to mush it up into an ice cream soup because i am fifteen, and we're allowed to do those kind of things. admittedly, would still be doing that when i am a fifty three year old with high blood sugar levels, but still. You get my point.

I must say, my mother made a gigantic mistake buying our cuisinart. Now will eat ice cream, sorbet and frozen yogurt as fast as my gullet will allow.

Homemade vanilla ice cream

2 large eggs
3/4 sup sugar
2 cups whipping cream
1 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla essence

Whisk eggs for 2 minutes. While whisking, add in sugar a little at a time. Pour in cream and milk and blend well. Add essence and stir. Refrigerate for 1 hour. Once chilled, pour into the bucket of the ice cream maker and set the timer for 60 minutes for a soft serve ice cream.

If adding chocolate chips or cookie dough, add these during the last 5 minutes of the freezing cycle.

Various flavours: 150g melted chocolate, 3 tbsp espresso, 2 tsp strawberry essence.

Or, you know, hundreds and thousands.

I honestly thought it was pretty overrated.

But my oh my.
Their flavours.
Cotton CANDY?
bubble gum?
Praline?
Butter Pecan?
Key Lime?
Cinnamon?

i just wanted to stay there all day with my nose pressed up against the glass display, staring at the Maple Flavoured Ice Cream.

Can you imagine? Maple in itself is crazy good. But maple ice cream?
That's, like, double sinful.

Plus they spoilt you even more by giving you mix ins.
Graham crackers and gummy bears and oreos and reeses and snickers and cookie dough and...
i think i might cry.

Now this one.
This is something they call birthday cake.
Was it my birthday?
no.
would i have liked it to be?
yes.

It's sweet cream ice cream with cake bits inside. Along with oreos. Oh, and cookie dough.
Oh, and they added chocolate syrup all over the top.

The happiness is no longer just within.

We ordered a pint and they offered to give it to us in big cups.
See that cup in the picture up there? we had two of those.

Two.

And the ice cream was spilling out all over the sides.

I need to find some kind of power work out so i don't become the size of a polar bear.
